How to Go Green by Recycling

All around the world people consume volumes of materials each day. It is hard to handle all of the waste generated, because it takes up such a huge amount of space. Where will we ever put all of the waste? There is also the question of the negative effects that waste will have on planet Earth in the long term future. One way to cut down on the waste generated is to recycle all of the materials that we can. Recycling allows you to Go Green and recycle waste materials so that they can be reused again in another form.

Types of Materials for Recycling

There are many different waste materials that can be recycled in our communities, including auto parts, computer and electronics components, glass bottles, scrap metal, used motor oil, paper, plastic bags, and rain water. Natural recycling occurs when a composting pile is used for biodegradable waste.

Metal from soda cans can be saved and recycled for the aluminum. Metal scraps from cars and other types of building materials can be melted down and recycled. The volumes of paper that are used each day can also be recycled. Paper recycling already helps to reduce the number of trees that are cut down each year.

Rubber is an item that is used for various products. The main source of rubber waste comes from vehicle tires. Rubber can also be recycled to make new tires. Glass and plastic bottles are also recycled.

Recycling efforts contribute to reducing the amount of waste materials that end up buried in landfills. However, some types of materials, such as Styrofoam, are not easy to recycle. Therefore, many restaurants have changed from Styrofoam containers to ones made from paper that can be recycled.

How to Start Recycling Each Week

Every one can also do their part to recycle waste materials. Many communities have locations where you can drop off cardboard, glass, aluminum cans, and motor oil. The collected waste materials are then picked up and taken to bigger recycling facilities.

If every family was to collect one load of waste materials per week to be recycled, imagine the beneficial difference it would have on planet Earth overall. Many schools teach children about recycling, and they are very excited to go home and implement what they have learned. Be willing to make some changes to the household routine in order to Go Green and help them to start recycling.

One of the many issues to be overcome is that it can be expensive to recycle certain materials. However, research has shown that the long term cost is worth it, if the amount of materials that end up as waste is reduced. Companies are also encouraged to come up with better product packaging methods, to reduce the amount of waste produced.

You may ask yourself, what is the purpose of the domestic boiler scrappage scheme?

The UK has one of the most ambitious CO2 emission reduction targets in the world. The installation of an efficient heating system is an effective way of reducing household energy bills and CO2 emissions, as domestic heating accounts for 14 per cent of our CO2 emissions.

There are currently around 3 and a half million properties in England with the very least economically friendly type of   boiler (G-rated or worse).

To address this our Government will provide up to 125,000 homes £400 towards the cost of upgrading their boiler (if G-rated or equivalent or worse) to a high efficiency A-rated one or a renewable heating technology. This will help to save in the region of 140,000tCO2 per year – equivalent to taking 45,000 cars off the road.

What are the benefits in upgrading your boiler?

New boiler systems have rated efficiencies of 90 per cent or greater   showing that they use significantly less fuel, resulting in lower CO2 emissions and running costs . Renewable heat technologies do not use fossil fuels, reducing CO2 emissions further .

For example, this means by upgrading your G-rated boiler to an A-rated one, your home heating bill should drop by about a quarter – a saving, on average, of around £235 a year.

Who is eligible for the funding ?

The funding is open to 125,000 householders in England living in an owned or privately rented house .

Please note:

i) If you are a homeowner (including tenants ) under 60 you can only make an application for the scheme if the boiler you are scrapping is in working order and is the main boiler used to heat the home .
ii) If you are a homeowner (including tenants) and 60 or over you can apply for the scheme regardless of whether the boiler system you are scrapping is in working order. However, it still needs to be the main boiler used to heat the home.

Only householders and landlords who privately own and lease dwellings are eligible to make an application for a voucher . Boiler installers and manufacturers, local authority registered social landlords, and housing associations are not eligable for the fund .

Why isn’t this funding  running in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland?

The devolution of power to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland means that their assemblies and governments will take decisions on whether they want similar schemes.

How can you tell if your boiler is G-rated?

A good quick test for gas boilers is to see if it has a permanent pilot light -if it has then it is very likely to be a G-rated boiler. If it is gas fired and over fifteen years old it is likely to be eligible. If it is oil fired and over twenty five years old, it is likely to be eligible.

For a better idea, why not see if your boiler make and model is listed as G-rated or worse by going to

* Government Boiler Efficiency Database
* SEDBUK Boiler Efficiency Database

Alternatively, you can ask your nominated installer to assist you in determining whether your boiler is eligible.

Want to register an interest in the boiler scrappage scheme?

If you believe that your home has a G-rated or worse boiler and wish to register an interest in the scheme to receive a £400 cashback voucher towards the cost of upgrading to an A-rated boiler, then arrange for your nominated installer to visit, provide you with a quote and have the following information to hand

i) Your full name.
ii) The address of the property you wish to claim the voucher for.
iii) The make and name of the boiler being scrapped.
iv) The company name , address and contact details of the installer carrying out the work.
v) The type of replacement boiler to be installed e.g. gas, biomass.
vi) Confirmation that you have received a quote or visit from the installer to carry out the work.

Once you have this information please email us here/call our ACT ON CO2 advice line on 0800 512 012.

When will the vouchers be issued?

The £400 vouchers will be issued from 18 January 2010. You will receive the voucher approximately ten days after application. Vouchers are valid for 12 weeks from date of issue. If the voucher is not redeemed within this time, it will be cancelled and reallocated. There will be only one voucher per household, but if the voucher expires, it will be possible to apply for another if funds are available.

Installations made before receipt of your voucher will invalidate your claim and you will no longer be eligible to receive the £400 rebate.

Please note that no vouchers will be sent out before 18. January 2010.

Which boilers and boiler manufacturers can the vouchers be redeemed against?

Vouchers can be redeemed against a boiler from manufacturer which is for A-rated or equivalent gas, oil or LPG boilers, boilers with a Passive Flue Heat Recovery Device, Micro CHP units or Microgeneration Certification Scheme-registered biomass boilers and heat pumps. Solar Thermal is also eligible if combined with an eligible boiler replacement. Electric boilers are not eligible.

Who can carry out the installation of your new boiler?

Installation of a gas or oil boiler must be carried out by an installer registered with a competent person’s scheme (such as GasSafe or OFTEC). Installation of a microgeneration technology must be carried out by a person qualified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

How can you find the best deals on boilers and installation?

We recommend that you shop around by enquiring with a range of installers, manufacturers or energy companies for the most competitive deal. Some companies will be offering complementary deals to encourage you to scrap and replace your boiler with them. Once you have chosen an installer, you will need a quote from them in order to register for a voucher.

How will payment of the £400 be made?

Once you have received your voucher, you can then proceed with the installation. You will need to pay for the new boiler and installation upfront and then claim back the £400 by sending the voucher and invoice to us. If you proceed with your installation before you receive your voucher, this will invalidate your claim and you will no longer be eligible for the £400 rebate.

Payment will be issued within 25 working days of receipt of the voucher and invoice.

How will the Energy Saving Trust guard against fraud?

The Energy Saving Trust will monitor the scheme and any detected fraud will be reported and prosecuted.

The processes and procedures for monitoring the scheme are as follows:

* A voucher submitted for a claim must contain the customer’s and the installer’s signature. It must also include the GasSafe/MCS registration number of the installer.
* As a requirement of law any work undertaken on a gas boiler has to be registered with GasSafe as matter of course. Therefore, Energy Saving Trust will check periodically voucher claims against work registered with GasSafe. If the work has not be registered with GasSafe in due course this will be further investigated by the Energy Saving Trust and where necessary followed by a home visit to ensure the work has indeed been completed) In addition, a random selection of installations will be checked by the Energy Saving Trust through home visits to ensure a new boiler has been installed.
* The Energy Saving Trust will do a daily check if more than one voucher has been applied for a property. This will be done by monitoring postcode data. If multiple applications are detected the Energy Saving Trust will investigate further.
* In addition to the post installation audits, the Energy Saving Trust will carry out a small sample of pre-installation audits to confirm that the details on a customer’s application are correct. These will be carried out before a voucher is issued.

Solar Cell Efficiency

Since the introduction of the modern silicon solar cell, the efficiency of solar cells has improved greatly. The first silicon solar cell was created by Bell Labs and demonstrated for the public for the first time on April 25, 1954. This solar cell worked at only about 6% efficiency.

The silicon solar cell succeeded the selenium solar cell, which was quite a bit less efficient. Selenium solar cells operated at only around 0.5% efficiency.

Since then, the focus of research has been put toward the task of improving the efficiency of solar cells, and reducing the cost of producing them. Cells with as much as 40% efficiency have been produced using rare materials. The manufacturing cost for these cells is over 100 times higher than that of the current standard, 8% efficient cells. Reducing production cost is perhaps even more important than improving efficiency when it comes to encouraging more homeowners to switch to solar power.

The sun provides about 1,000 watts of power per square meter under ideal conditions. A solar cell’s advertised production is based on this figure. Of course, there are a variety of factors that can impact the intensity of sunlight, such as weather, elevation, pollution, and dust. Some events, such as volcanic eruptions, can even reduce sunlight on a worldwide basis for long periods of time. Low elevation also negatively affects solar cell efficiency. This is because, as elevation gets higher, the air gets thinner, and the effects of dust and pollution are reduced.

Multicrystalline solar cells are currently commercially available, and these operate at about 14-19% efficiency. However, as mature technology, this kind of cell is thought to be close to its limit in terms of production capability. Amorphous silicon cells, on the other hand, although currently about 8% efficient, are widely thought to be the next big thing in solar cell technology.

Even without any major improvements in solar cell efficiency, the goal of replacing fossil fuel-based power production with solar power isn’t realistic. To supply all of the electricity currently produced in the United States, it would take just over 10,000 square miles of solar panels. There is much more suitable land than that currently unused.

Solar power systems, in order to provide power even when the sun isn’t out, need to also make use of some type of power storage. For this purpose, batteries are the most common solution, often being used in banks either in homes or near them. Batteries could also represent a solution to the problem of spikes in demand presented by hot days.

Since they were first introduced, solar cells have improved substantially in terms of efficiency, from 0.5% to as high as 40%. Although the efficiency of mass-production solar cells is not considered likely to increase significantly in the near future, solar cell prices continue to decrease.

If you are looking into installing a solar power system, you need to consider the kind of roof panel that you are going to use. More info about roof solar panels is available at Roof Solar Panels.

Solar farm a first in Georgia

Two doctors made energy history last week in a dusty field in Bulloch County when they hooked up their solar farm to the electric grid.

The pole-mounted arrays of solar panels, 24 of them so far, are a rare sight here, but they aren’t novel in themselves. The technology has been available for decades.

No, what’s new is that Savannah dermatologist Dr. Sidney Smith and Brunswick pathologist Dr. Pat Godbey figured out a way to put a lot of solar in one place and still sell it back to Georgia Power at the premium green energy rate.

State regulations require the utility to limit its purchases of solar energy at premium pricing to commercial systems of 100 kilowatt capacity or smaller. Smith and Godbey will own a chunk of the farm with that generating capacity but then will continue to expand the solar capacity by leasing new portions to other companies. At buildout, the farm will have a generating capacity of 1.2 megawatts, or 12 times the individual limit.

“It is kind of a different business model,” said Wilson Mallard, green energy manager for Georgia Power. “They’re selling ownership in it.”

Solar limits

Georgia Power’s green energy program is set up to be revenue-neutral and not increase prices for customers who don’t participate, Mallard said. The Public Service Commission only allows Georgia Power to buy as much premium-priced solar (at 18.3 cents per kilowatt hour, soon to go down to 17 cents) as it can sell for premium prices.

“As more customers support green energy it automatically increases the amount we can buy,” he said. Georgia Power’s premium green energy, which will soon be 50 percent solar-produced, costs consumers $5 extra per 100 kilowatt hours.

About 60 producers sell solar energy to Georgia Power at the premium rate, Mallard said, though there’s a waiting list for others eager to join them. In the meantime, Georgia Power buys that solar energy at about 5 cents per kilowatt hour.

The doctors, who spent eight months negotiating with Georgia Power to set up the deal, had to pay for the connecting infrastructure themselves, including a transformer. They expect to install more than 100 pole-mounted arrays on the first 1.25 acres for their own company, Tabby Power. Then they’ll start leasing the remaining acreage, perhaps to companies that want renewable energy but don’t have the land or roof for it, or don’t want to risk hurricane damage to expensive solar panels, Smith said.

“Basically the company can make one phone call and within a month be generating power,” Smith said. “All the technical aspects are taken out.”

It takes between five and six of the pole-mounted arrays to power the average Georgia house.

Georgia and Georgia Power both gets poor marks on solar development from most environmentalists. Jennette Gayer of Environment Georgia points to less sunny states that have outstripped Georgia’s pace on solar.

“There are states where solar is taking off, like New Jersey,” she said. “They’re installing hundreds of megawatts. It’s a combination of state leadership pushing solar and the utility not willing to stand in the way.”

Still, she applauded the new solar farm.

“I think that every little step you can take with these guys is a good one,” she said.

His third solar first

Solar is nothing new to Smith.

His Tybee home was the first Georgia residence to hook to the grid. His southside Savannah office was the first commercial building to do so.

He’s sold on solar as an investment, confident that the energy produced is only going to get more valuable and that nobody will be taxing his use of sunshine.

“It’s a business plan; you can make money doing this,” he said. “What else can you install today that will keep paying benefits?”

With the state and federal tax credits he’s been able to tap into, he expects to recoup his investment in about 15 years.

Keith Freeman, vice president and chief technical officer of OneWorld Sustainable oversaw the installation of the solar farm. He said commercial ventures were recouping their investments in less than ten years.

Smith and Godbey envision their site a few miles off Interstate 16 as a modern bucolic scene: cattle grazing and bees buzzing beneath south-facing panels that soak up the sun.

“Ultimately this will be a pasture,” said Smith, who gestured to white boxes at the edge of the field. “Those right there are beehives.”

“It’s the right thing to do,” Godbey said. “It’s better than polluting.”

Make no mistake, when it gets hot you are going to require a great, powerful powerful monobloc air conditioner to truly make a difference in your house or office. Certainly anything less than 12,000 Btu you’re wasting your cash as it just won’t do the job.

The unit in the photo is the kind you’ll require. Ideal for large rooms, conservatories, offices or server rooms. It’s super silent, fully portable and created for effective cooling. As this is such a effective unit it might not be suitable for quiet areas, like bedrooms, as it is noisier than other smaller units.

This unit is energy efficient -The sensitive thermostatic control allows you to set your room’s desired temperature, as soon as the temperature is reached the compressor will switch off – saving you monery. The unit will continue to run in fan mode. As soon as the temperature rises several degrees above the set point, the unit will start-up the compressor

Other features of this portable air conditioner include a remote control, 12 hour on/off timer, 3 cooling speeds and 4 modes of operation (automatic, cooling, dehumidifying and fan only).

As it is what’s recognized as a monobloc system it needs to dischargethe hot air outside of the room so its vent hose should be fed through a slightly open window or door.

One of the main bonus features of this sytem producing it perfect for server rooms is unlike many other portable air conditioners it doesn’t have a water tank that requirements to be frequently emptied. The condensation is merely evaporated via the extraction hose.

Completely portable – Its easy-roll castors make it simple to move around and also the LCD remote control gives full manage over operations. This air conditioner also has digital push-button controls rather than knobs and dials to turn producing it easy to operate.

In this article I’ve given you some information about the 15000Btu Portable Air Conditioner, if you’re looking to get one at the best price you need to go to Climate Environmental

New Whatcom Bellingham Project

For years the Bellingham downtown was seen as an industrial area. With heavy industry dominating much of the waterfront there was little room for development. This, however is a situation that has changed. The revival of the Bellingham waterfront is underway! In 2005 the Port of Bellingham purchased a significant package of land along the waterfront with the intention of converting it into a multi-faceted community incorporating light industry, commercial interests, Bellingham real estate, and parks. This development is progressing with an eye on the environment and the bright future of the Bellingham waterfront.

This project has been christened as “New Whatcom,” and involves the world of the surrounding area as well as partnerships at local, state and federal levels. This partnership has created a distinct atmosphere for the “New Whatcom” project. One of the major features of this construction is the development of a new marina that will be one of the main features of the scenic waterfront which will help the Bellingham Tourism.

Bellingham Washington is known to be one of the more popular and lively areas in the crushed and beautiful Pacific Northwest. This is rather simply one of the most breathtaking areas in the country. From the snow-capped peaks of Mount Baker which is world renowned for world record snowfalls and some of the most fantastic skiing and snowboarding terrain there is; to the pristine beauty of the waterfalls in Whatcom Falls Park, Bellingham and Whatcom County have a little something to offer everyone.

Another attractive aspect of this area is the agreeable climate. Bellingham lies in one of the last temperate rain forest areas left in North America and as such enjoys fair weather condition all year round. There is never a shortage of things to do at any time of the year in this area, a fact that is best defined by the yearly Ski-To-Sea Race. Participants start at the peak of Mount Baker and relay race through seven different events before the race finishes in beautiful Bellingham Bay.

Great deals on Samsung 3d tv

What makes theSamsung 3d tvthe peoples first choise

The 3D television is on the rise and there is no stopping it.   The amazing  success of 3D movies and sporting events, it only makes sense that this technology would make the jump into the home entertainment industry.  One of the leaders in TV technology is that of Samsung, and they are on the cutting edge of this 3D technology and making it available to more viewers.  The Samsung 3D tv uses a variety of different variables in order to create the three dimensional viewing experience.  It uses a combination of multi-view capture, stereoscopic images, two dimensional viewing plus depth, as well as a unequalled device that allows you to view the images in three dimensions.

In order view 3D TV you must use a pair of LCD shutter glasses. The shutter glasses interact with the 3D ready TV creating a incerdible 3d image. We do not like that the Samsung 3D TVs does not come with 3D glasses and you have purchase $350 priced Starter Kit that includes two glass kits with ? Monsters vs. As per Samsung, they will provide the kid-sized and new rechargeable glasses very soon but they do not work with other brands. The culprit here is largely the shutter glasses used to view a 3D image, which have lenses that alternatively become dark and then transparent in rapid chronological succession, synced with a TV display showing alternating perspectives. As such, that flickering can also trigger epileptic seizures, or, worse, “be physically harmful to you and may weaken your eyesight” if worn when not viewing a 3D image.

For now, the samsung 3d tv has to be viewed using special 3d glasses   These 3d glasses work by displaying two separate images and tricking your brain into thinking it is all one fluid image.  They produce this sensation by shutting off one eye at a time.

In the future, the samsung 3d tv will be able to be viewed without 3d glasses which will be alot nicer and easier for most viewers.  As for now, the the bulky 3d glasses will do but it is very apparent that the technology is improving very speedily and is sure to take this whole Samasung 3d tv and make the most out of it.

The Icelandic volcanic dust settling over northern Europe is prompting the question, “How can I protect my computer equipment from volcanic dust?” The high volume of air necessary for cooling a computer unit makes them especially susceptible to the effects of dust. And Europeans are beginning to see that dust is not their friend. It can cause irreparable harm and/or result in costly computer repairs.

Nearly all of us use various machines and equipment in our daily lives. The machine most commonly used  is the computer. Computers and laptops have to be kept free from dust and water to keep them running smoothly. If your computer malfunctions , it can result in lost business and work. If you want to protect your computers from volcanic dust, you need to look for options.

Some people will prefer the enclosure or cabinet type of computer cover for their electronic items . Buying a cabinet like this is an option if you have the money to spend and don’t mind the space that extra furniture takes up. In other words, if you have money and space you can get an enclosure or a cabinet made for storing your computer and filtering dust. This will keep your equipment safe from volcanic dust as well as the normal, every-day dust. But this isn’t a foolproof option as dust can seep into the cabinet over a period of time. This can happen when you open the cabinet and dust circulating in the room settles on the equipment. Additionally, it may become quite expensive replacing fan filters for the enclosure .

Another way to protect your computers from volcanic dust is to use plastic, vinyl or nylon covers. This is an option for when the equipment is shut down,  but the covers must be removed before powering up the equipment.

Perhaps the best option for keeping volcanic dust at bay is to use a computer dust bag, like the ShopShield by Computer Dust Solutions. These covers are highly breathable, which enables you to entirely cover your CPU, monitor or printer in the cover, even while it is running. This is true, 100% 24/7 protection for your computer equipment. The equipment is exposed to dust at no time. Also, the ShopShield is relatively inexpensive, so after the volcanic dust threat has passed you can throw them away if you no longer need them.

Use one of these methods to protect your computers from volcanic dust and and you can rest easy knowing your computer equipment is breathing clean air.

Being eco friendly is important in todays business climate. Taking special initiatives for being environmentally friendly in the printing industry is a large challenge, but it is something that must be done. Both the key ingredient of printing industry is something that is not environmental friendly so, giving out eco friendly printing services is really something that is hard to find and even harder to carry out. It’s a known fact that finding out good environmentally friendly printing companies is a rarity in today’s situation. If a printing company has to carry out eco friendly printing then it needs to follow up only with green printing practices like, green business cards, green graphic design services, recycled paper printing services and only use eco-friendly printer that will all make sure that the environment is polluted to a very minimal level only. You can find that Green Color Printing is one such company that gives out cost effective but quality eco friendly green printing products to its customers. Building an eco friendly printing company is not an easy of cheap process, as eco friendly printers and other machines need for the process are costlier than the normal printers. In Green Color Printing, they make sure that they only provide green graphic design services with recycled paper. This point makes sure that they do not cut a lot of trees and the fresh water consumption that is normally required for a normal printing service is reduces by the usage of eco friendly printers. This will reduce destroying a lot of forest for the purpose of paper production and wastage of fresh water, which is a non renewable resource and very essential for living. 2 Recycled paper is one of the important thing or the key ingredient that we need for eco printing. You will have to produce the eco friendly printing paper that you need from recycled paper. This is a process by which we can produce utilizable paper from what we call as the waste papers. The fibers in the waste paper are reprocessed and the waste fiber that is extracted is made to be as the recycled paper. If you are person who wish to support eco friendly products then always choose for eco friendly printing too. Every company claiming to be eco friendly is not genuine. There are a few companies that claims to be eco friendly but do not keep up their promise as eco friendly methods of printing a costly. If a company claims to be proving with eco-friendly printing then you just need to make sure if they are registered with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) that supports forest conservation and such eco friendly ideas. It is generally noted that printing companies who stick along with the rules and regulations of FSC standards are generally better trusted in taking eco friendly activities seriously. One such FSC certified printing company is Green Color Printing.

Voters in the town of Nederland voted on Tuesday and approved a ballot measure that removed all local penalties for private adult marijuana possession, making the mountain town the third Colorado locality to legalize marijuana in the past five years.

Denver voters adopted a citizen-initiative to do so in November 2005, and voters in Breckenridge approved a similar measure in November 2009.

More than 54 percent of Nederland voters supported the measure in what Town Clerk Christi Icenogle said was a high turn-out election.

Voters also ousted incumbent Mayor Martin Cheshes, who had vocally opposed the measure and referred to it as “foolish,” replacing him with Trustee Sumaya Abu-Haidar.

Prior to the announcement of the vote, the Boulder District Attorney Stan Garnett told The Daily Camera: “I’ll pay attention if it passes.  Marijuana enforcement is a sensitive issue, and it’s important to gauge public sentiment.”

“It’s time for Colorado’s elected officials to recognize that many — and in some cases most — of their constituents support an end to marijuana prohibition,” said SAFER Executive Mason Tvert.  ”Those who fail to do so are the ‘foolish’ ones, and in some areas it could result in them losing votes.

“Nederland is not the first Colorado locality to express its opinion that marijuana should be legal for adults, and it certainly won’t be the last,” Tvert continued.  ”More and more Coloradans are beginning to recognize the fact that marijuana is far safer than alcohol for the user and for society, and it’s only a matter of time before they decide to stand up against irrational laws that drive people to drink by prohibiting them from making the safer choice.”

Durango, which voted largely in support of the statewide initiative to legalize marijuana in 2006, will likely to vote on a similar local marijuana legalization initiative this November.

A recent poll of likely Colorado voters found that 50 percent now support making marijuana legal for adults and regulating it like alcohol.

Biodiesel takes center stage as an alternative fuel. It carries more benefits than traditional diesel fuel. Biodiesel saves you money just by using it. Also, you can produce Biodiesel from home. The production process is safe.

How To Make Biodiesel – Introduction

Special knowledge or skills are not prerequisite to learning Biodiesel. A Biodiesel processor yields better results in Homemade Biodiesel.Your investment cost for Biodiesel processor and supplies is still below than you would incur for using the ordinay diesel fuel, so it makes sense to start making your own Biodiesel at home with a Biodiesel processor.

Reasons for Acquisition

You may wonder on the relevance of acquiring a Biodiesel processor. You may be able to get Biodiesel at your local fuel station. What you may overlook is that the Biodiesel you are buying is likely a blend.

While blends are still better than straight diesel fuel, they are the ideal way to test Biodiesel.

Pure Biodiesel, sold as B100, is more advantageous for your vehicle and more friendly for the environment.

Making your own pure Biodiesel is highly feasible. With a processor it is actually quite simple because the processor performs most of the tasks with the B100 product as the final output.

What to Look Forward to

Most Biodiesel processors are packaged for ready use. Thus you can jump start outright your journey to making Biodiesel. Your operations manual should be in place and must identify what necessary supplies are needed.

The bulk of work load is hinged with the Biodiesel, thus you should be able to start making a Biodiesel right away .

The process can be quick pending the inputs to be used. If you use used vegetable oil expect the process to take a little longer.

Moreover, with a Biodiesel processor it can yield a well made Biodiesel since the processor is intended for good end results. You will not have as much room for error as you would with a kit.

Operational Procedure

You should designate an exclusive area for your Biodiesel processor. Since your Biodiesel processor is expectedly for heavy use it is adviseable to set it up for ready use if the need arises. Moreover, your processor can be secured from damages.

You should be sure to follow all the directions for making Biodiesel to produce the desired Biodiesel output and derived the benefits expected from your processor.

New Mexico’s green energy future

What if there was a way to create thousands of sustainable, well-paying jobs in New Mexico without any cost to taxpayers? What if New Mexico could position itself as the country’s leading provider of clean, renewable energy? And what if someone trying to represent hundreds of thousands of New Mexicans in Congress opposed these developments? That is exactly what Steve Pearce is doing, and that’s why he’d be a poor choice for the Second District in 2011.

Climate change has become a central issue in the campaign between Harry Teague and Steve Pearce. Indeed, it was only after Teague voted for the House’s sweeping climate change legislation last June that Pearce, who had been mulling a bid for governor, decided to try to reclaim his old seat in Congress. Now, Pearce is using Teague’s vote for the House bill, which would establish a cap-and-trade system to regulate carbon emissions, as ammo in his quest to portray the first-term Democrat as out of touch with the needs of southern New Mexicans.

But Pearce’s argument lacks both validity and vision. The accusation that the House bill, also known as Waxman-Markey, would eliminate oil jobs for New Mexicans is unfounded for two reasons. First, Congressman Teague, much to the chagrin of some progressive voters who actually studied the bill, secured a deal with Democratic leadership in which oil producers would not be taxed at the wellhead, where most southern New Mexican oilmen make their money.

Second, alternative energy is actually a better job creator than fossil fuels. According to the New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD), green job production in New Mexico grew by 50 percent between 1998 and 2007, more than 25 times the pace of overall job growth, which expanded by a sluggish 1.9 percent. The EDD also reports that each $1 million invested in clean energy and energy efficiency will create 16.7 jobs compared with only 5.3 if the money were invested in oil and gas. Finally, the department, citing studies conducted by the American Solar Energy Society, claims that investment in green energy could create 236,800 jobs for New Mexicans by 2030.

And these numbers only scratch the surface. New Mexico has perhaps the most dynamic renewable energy resources of any state. According to the Energy Atlas, an online repository for national energy statistics, the Land of Enchantment boasts the country’s second highest solar energy production potential, the seventh highest for geothermal energy, and the 12th highest for wind.

Yet Pearce continues to mislead voters. In an interview with the Artesia Daily Press last August, Pearce said “We should be encouraging the domestic production of energy, and Waxman-Markey is going to discourage it. So, the whole thing is wrong. In other words, it’s going to make us more dependent on foreign oil; not less dependent.” Really? According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, a non-partisan analytical office within the Department of Energy, Waxman-Markey would cut U.S. foreign oil consumption by $650 billion between now and 2030, yield savings of $6,500 per American household, and reduce U.S. oil consumption by 20 percent by 2025. The climate change legislation Teague voted for would do a lot of things, but increase the United States’ dependence on foreign oil isn’t one of them.

New Mexico won’t capitalize on its potential to serve as a leader in the green economy without tough, smart public policy. Waxman-Markey provides the impetus by incentivizing investments in green energy production. Moreover, by capping carbon emissions, the legislation forces businesses to shift into cleaner, renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, industries in which New Mexico has the ability to lead. New production on the domestic front would also serve to limit U.S. dependence on foreign oil.

Rather than putting New Mexico on the defensive, Waxman-Markey places the ball firmly in New Mexico’s court. Teague seems to understand this. He voted for climate change legislation because it places a premium on the resources that New Mexico naturally holds in abundance.

Southern New Mexico currently faces staggering levels of unemployment. Voters want bold, innovative leaders who will design and support policies that send them back to work. Yet, Steve Pearce continues to use scare tactics to mislead southern New Mexicans on the true economic implications of climate change legislation.

Should such tactics surprise us? Perhaps not. After all, how much can we really expect from someone who has based their entire energy policy on a three-word talking point? “Drill baby, drill!” is a sound bite, not a solution.
